Vatican foreign minister Gallagher to visit Pakistan for 75th anniversary of ties

Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Holy See's Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, is traveling to Pakistan from October 8 to 10 to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between the Holy See and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The visit to Islamabad is also intended to strengthen a shared commitment to peace and to bilateral cooperation.
Meetings with political leaders
Gallagher's schedule includes meetings with the country's leading political and religious figures. On the day he arrives, he will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The following day he will meet the Pakistan Catholic Bishops' Conference and take part in a symposium organized for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides.
Interreligious dialogue
On Friday, the last day of the visit, Gallagher will celebrate Mass at the church of Our Lady of Fatima in Islamabad. He will end the day with a visit to the Faisal Mosque and meetings with local religious leaders.
