Church Gazette is Catholic news written for readers who want to know what is actually happening in the Church, reported by people who belong to it.

Who publishes this

Church Gazette is an editorial project owned by Asociación Cultural Cauro (tax ID G-83197.913), a Spanish non-profit association dedicated to religious and cultural information. Day-to-day technical and commercial management is carried out by Info Madrid Comunicación y Prensa, S.L. (tax ID B-86.298.205) under a services agreement.

The newsroom is made up of professionals from several fields, led by journalists with long experience in the press and in religious affairs, and supported by an established network of contacts and verified sources inside the Church.

Where we stand

The views expressed here do not serve the interests of any ecclesial group or institution. We are Catholic by conviction and faithful to the Magisterium of the Church. That does not stop us from pointing firmly at the conduct of some of her members when it damages the credibility of an institution founded by Jesus Christ.

We want to be, and to go on being, citizen journalism from inside the Church. If you know something, tell us, so that we can give a voice to those who do not have one.

The two conditions

First, that any information or opinion based on facts can be verified and corroborated. We do not publish unfounded rumour, and we do not accept material that would unfairly harm anyone. Slander and gossip do not interest us; truthful information and clear sources do. When there are uncomfortable truths to tell and we can confirm them, we will tell them, whoever they touch.

Second, that what we publish serves to improve the Church. More precisely, to improve those of us who make it up, you and us alike, because the Church herself is holy even when her members are not. Those who hold positions of responsibility should be exemplary in particular, and it is exactly there that we will speak up when they are not.
