The 28th Catholics and Public Life Congress will bring together prominent figures from Latin America to discuss the historical, cultural and spiritual ties between Spain and the Americas. Its theme this year is "America and Spain: the faith that unites us. A round trip."

The congress runs from November 13 to 15 at Universidad CEU San Pablo, a Catholic university in Madrid. Speakers from Chile, Peru, Venezuela and Mexico will address the present and future of those shared ties from a range of perspectives.

Confirmed participants include Hernán Larraín, Chile's former minister of justice and human rights; Adriana Tudela, a lawyer and former member of the Congress of Peru; and María Eugenia Campos Galván, governor of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. Others taking part are Alice Galván, founder and president of the Fundación Patria Unida por un México Valiente; Carlos Leáñez Aristimuño, a Venezuelan Hispanist, researcher and writer who specializes in languages, globalization and Spanish America; and Cristian Pizarro, deputy editor of the Chilean daily El Mercurio, among others.

Faith and the present in the Spain-Americas dialogue

One of the main themes of this year's congress is understanding the relationship between the Americas and Spain not only through their shared past but through the challenges and opportunities of the present. Business leaders, politicians, intellectuals and representatives of civil society and the Church will take part in discussions reaching beyond history to the current challenges facing a community united by the Catholic faith.

Registration remains open. The full program is available at https://www.congreso.ceu.es/.
