The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has released the draft agenda for its fall plenary assembly, which will be held November 16 to 19 in Baltimore. The bishops will take up internal governance, liturgical questions and pastoral matters.

On the organizational side, the assembly will include the election of a new conference secretary and six committee chairmen. The bishops will also discuss the use of artificial intelligence, immigration and the rise in conversions to Catholicism in the United States.

The program sets aside time for the Guadalupan Novena, marking the fifth centenary of the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The anniversary is listed explicitly on the agenda.

Votes on the Lectionary and beatification causes

The bishops will vote on seven action items. Among them are approval of a new edition of the Lectionary for Mass and the Book of the Gospels, and the establishment of an annual Day of Prayer for Racial Justice.

The assembly will also take up the consultation on the causes of beatification and canonization of Maria Middleton and Thomas Steven Vander Woude.
