Vatican official presents rosary from Pope Leo XIV to Seseña confraternity
Msgr. Salvador Aguilera López, an official of the Holy See, celebrated the Mass for Our Lady of the Rosary in Seseña on October 4 and gave the town's confraternity a rosary from the pope. He served as parochial vicar in Seseña from 2007 to 2009
The parish of La Asunción de Nuestra Señora in Seseña, near Madrid, hosted a solemn Mass on October 4 in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, the town's patron. The mayor and members of the municipal council, civil and military authorities and many devotees of the Virgin attended the midday celebration.
The celebrant was Msgr. Salvador Aguilera López, who currently holds a post at the Holy See. Between 2007 and 2009 he served as parochial vicar in Seseña, his first pastoral assignment after his priestly ordination. Father Antonio Rubio Muga, appointed pastor of the town on July 29 of this year, concelebrated.
Reflection on the Rosary and the mysteries of Christ
In his homily, Aguilera spoke about the value of praying the holy rosary. He said the life of a believer passes through moments of joy, light, sorrow and glory, all of them illuminated by the redeeming mystery of Christ and of Mary. Mary is the Mother of Jesus and also our Mother, he said.
He encouraged the faithful to contemplate the central mysteries of the faith through the rosary: the Joyful, the Luminous, the Sorrowful and the Glorious. Each one, he said, is a source of light for living the Christian life with authenticity and spiritual depth.
A gift from the pope
At the end of the Mass, Aguilera presented the confraternity of the town's patron with a rosary from Pope Leo XIV.
