Madrid parish to honor Our Lady of the Valley with Mass, procession and mariachis

The parish of Santísimo Cristo de la Victoria, at Calle Blasco de Garay 33 in Madrid, will hold a series of celebrations for the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The celebrations will focus on Nuestra Señora del Valle del Espíritu Santo, Our Lady of the Valley, who is venerated by the Venezuelan community. The parish is organizing the feast with the Cofradía de Nuestra Señora del Valle de Madrid, the confraternity that cares for the image in the church.

The celebrations begin on Tuesday, September 1, with the traditional lowering of the image of the Virgin, which opens the month dedicated to Our Lady of the Valley. A solemn Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 p.m. Afterward, the image will be shown from the parish balcony, marking the start of the celebrations.

On September 8, the main day of the feast, the parish has scheduled services throughout the day. At 9 a.m. there will be a Mass with the singing of las mañanitas, accompanied by mariachis. Two more Masses in honor of the Virgin follow at 11 a.m. and noon.

A solemn Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m., followed by a procession through the streets of the Chamberí neighborhood at 7 p.m. The day closes with a final Mass at 9 p.m.
