Extremadura dioceses to mark World Day of Migrants and Refugees on September 27
The three dioceses of Extremadura in western Spain will gather at the convent of El Palancar in Pedroso de Acim for a day of testimonies, Mass and a migrants' festival, with a focus on children affected by migration
The dioceses of Extremadura, in western Spain, will mark the World Day of Migrants and Refugees on Sunday, September 27. The day will be held under the theme "Even one of these little ones," taken from Matthew 18:5, at the convent of El Palancar in Pedroso de Acim, in the province of Cáceres.
Representatives of the diocesan migration offices of the three dioceses will take part, gathering from 10 a.m. In line with Pope Leo XIV's guidance, the day will focus on children directly affected by migration and recall the Gospel call to welcome each one of them.
The day's program
Children will take part in a game on children's rights, while adults will hear testimonies. Mass will follow, and those attending will share a meal.
In the afternoon there will be a "pilgrimage" to the Convent of San Pedro de Alcántara, with the traditional migrants' festival. The day will close with a farewell prayer at 5:30 p.m., led by the Franciscans.
Those who wish to take part must register in advance with the migration office of their diocese.
