Argentine bishops plan 55 hours of live coverage of Pope Leo XIV's visit
The Argentine Bishops' Conference will run an official YouTube channel streaming 55 hours of coverage over the four days of Pope Leo XIV's visit to Argentina, November 8 to 11, 2026
The Argentine Bishops' Conference, Argentina's counterpart of the US bishops' conference, will launch an official YouTube channel to stream Pope Leo XIV's apostolic visit to the country live. The visit is scheduled for November 8 to 11, 2026. The project comes from the Digital Missionaries team of the conference's Episcopal Commission for Social Communication. Its aim is to bring the main events of the visit to people who cannot be there in person, collecting testimonies and opening a space where any of the faithful can take part.
The broadcast will use the formats common on digital platforms to encourage participation, closeness and encounter. It follows the motto chosen for the visit: "Everyone is welcome. Go and proclaim." Coverage is planned to run 55 hours across the four days, with the digital missionaries stationed at the different places Leo XIV will visit during his stay in Argentina.
The team behind the coverage
Father Pablo Savoia will host the stream, working with a team made up of Agustín Podestá, María Claudia Enríquez, Francisco Sosa, Father Luis Zazano, Milagros Ortiz and Father Elias Mangini. Guests will also join the panel to share their experiences and their reactions to the different moments of the visit, bringing together a range of voices and expressions of faith.
The initiative is part of a broader digital evangelization effort that has been under way in Argentina for several years. The first National Meeting of Digital Evangelists was held in 2023 and has been repeated four times since, bringing evangelizers from different regions of the country together for training, for sharing their experience and for coordinating their work. Participants have looked at the challenges of formation and at strengthening the mission through creativity, discernment and community work.
Papal teaching as a guide
Argentina's digital evangelizers look to the teaching of Leo XIV. In July of last year he encouraged digital influencers and missionaries to renew their commitment to bringing hope to those settings, recognizing the people behind the screens and creating, in his words, "an encounter between hearts."
They also point to Pope Francis, who in his message for the 2023 World Day of Social Communications called for communication marked by listening, dialogue, closeness and charity.
