Pope Leo XIV will open the pastoral year of the Diocese of Rome on Friday, September 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The pope will preside at the celebration, which marks the official start of a new pastoral year for Catholics in the Italian capital.
Cardinal Baldo Reina, the cardinal vicar of Rome, who governs the diocese on the pope's behalf, has called on all parish communities to be represented at the diocesan assembly. He asked that the assembly reflect the face of the whole diocesan family. In his letter of invitation, Reina stresses that every parish should take part. Representatives of the diocese's participation bodies will also attend.
