Torreciudad shrine to host 34th Marian Family Day on September 12
Archbishop Alejandro Arellano Cedillo, dean of the Tribunal of the Roman Rota, will preside at the gathering, held at the Marian shrine in the Spanish province of Huesca under the theme of strengthening the faith of families
The Shrine of Torreciudad, in the Spanish province of Huesca, will host the 34th Marian Family Day on September 12. Archbishop Alejandro Arellano Cedillo, dean of the Tribunal of the Roman Rota, will preside. The event aims to offer participating families a day filled with joy and devotion to the Virgin Mary.
Arellano was born in 1962 in Olías del Rey, in the province of Toledo, and was ordained a priest in 1987. Pope Francis named him dean of the Tribunal of the Roman Rota in 2021 and titular archbishop of Bisuldino in 2023. In 2024 he was appointed pontifical commissioner plenipotentiary and delegate of the Holy See for Torreciudad. He is also president of the Court of Appeals of Vatican City State and a member of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints and the Dicastery for the Clergy.
Preparations have begun and include practical work and a special focus on spiritual preparation. Organizers are praying to the Virgin Mary that many pilgrims will attend and meet the Mother of God with joy. They are inviting everyone to take part and to recommend the day to family and friends, calling it an opportunity to deepen trust in and affection for Our Lady.
